My budgie died. We kept him in a cage outside and went to check in the morning and he was dead. It looked as if he'd been attacked by something. The next day my husband was going to take it to the vet because we didn't know how it'd died but when he went to get the bird, it was just bones and feathers. The body had just decomposed. Does anyone know if it could have been a mite? I have seen some of the local birds swooping the cage but don't know how they would have gotten through the cage.

My one year old budgie who is normally very vocal and active has been quieter for a couple of days and today is very weak although flew a lift when out his cage but is listless sometimes and even let me hold and stroke him. He normally settles on my shoulders when out of his cage but today he let me hold, cup him in my hand. He doesn’t have much strength to fly a lot please help

Took my bird in to the vet after his mate died. Found out he had lower respiratory infection. One of the symptoms was that he was breathing too fast. We had some cultures sent in because they said his throat seemed really wet. They gave us some antibiotics for the infection and giving him that's stuff is a bit of a chore haha. They also gave us water supplements and some better food for him. Still worried though, I hope he gets well soon.

About two months ago, I had purchased two absolutely beautiful budgies from ‘The Purple Seahorse.’ They we’re both boys, and they were a nice vibrant yellow colour. The more dominant one of the two, I had named Peeper. Peeper had a soft, green underbelly, with no black stripes to be seen. The less dominant one, Squeaker as I named him, was very green, with some yellow on his head, neck, and lower body, and he had the cutest black stripes running down his back. They were both in amazing condition when I got the two, four month old budgies. Socializing, interacting, eating and drinking, etc. I gave them a nice, about 40 by 45, by 40 inch habitat to live in, filled with toys, perches, food/ water bowl, treat strings, which hung from the ceiling, etc. They were doing very, very good, until about 14 days after I had purchased the pair... I got up at 1:20am, not knowing why I had suddenly woken up. It felt almost like I had sensed that something terrible had happened. I found one of my two little budgies laying on his side on the floor. Peeper was barely breathing, gasping for his last breaths, as I gently picked him up and cratled him in my arms. After about 15 minutes, I watched in sorrow as he placed his head down, relaxed nicely on my hand, and finally, took his last breath. After he had passed away (this was at exactly 1:37am, I had made sure I would remember,) I carefully checked for all of the symptoms I could find of any sort of illness, disease, wound, ANYTHING. Yet no symptoms showed. That morning, at 8:00am (when ‘The Purple Seahorse’ opened,) I reached over and bought another budgie. She was exactly like Squeaker (other than looks of course,) I dint even know the gender she was at the time. I couldn’t think of anything else but Squeaker, all alone. Squeaker needs a friend. So a brought her home, and they were bffs at first sight. She loved her new enclosure! Then. Something happened AGAIN. It happened, exactly like Peeper. Everything was EXACTLY the same... At 5: 42 am, Squeaker was pronounced dead. It has been two days now... Jessie, my VERY PAMPERED budgie, is sitting happily on my Phone, so if Imade spelling errors, forgive me, hahaha. She is living a very good life, even for a four month old, hahaha. But, on another note... I want to get her another friend... but I am Afrique the same thing will happen all over again... Please, help me... Someone, anyone... just remember, I already did the research... It has absolutely nothing to do with the habitat that I gave her, I don’t use perfume, hairspray, the cage bars are the perfect distance apart, etc. But if you can help, PLEASE, do so... I’m quite stuck. Thank you so much, even just for reading this... Lesson is, be careful with you budgies, they are VERY delicate creatures, that we are very lucky to be able to care for, and raise our own. Don’t take risks when buying another budgie, find out what you did wrong first, and correct your mistake. Have a good day everyone!
