How much does one quail eat per day

The tips are very useful. I plan to start breeding a variety of quail. Where I live there are no stores selling quail feed. So what do I feed the chicks and grown quail? Would someone out there advise a proper nutritious recipe?

Don't feed them avocado; it's poisonous to all types of quail!

I'm looking forward to starting keeping quail and am currently reading all I can about their likes and dislikes. I am a bit of a softe when it comes to wildlife and believe you only get out what you are prepared to put in. I will ensure when I get my quail they will be given plenty of space and shelter and well looked after. I have learned so much from other keepers of quail and looking forward to keeping my own.

A quail has made a nest in a small rosemary plant in my courtyard. The male appears to have an injured wing. Can I or should I not set out food for them? If so should it be something special since she is sitting on her nest. She just got done laying all of her eggs and began sitting on her nest 2 days ago. I see the male running around like a nut with that injured wing. It breaks my heart. How can I help? Thanks so much!
