Needs two
Christine,
Put it together on my own, took about 4 hours, booklet easy to follow, very easy to clean the cube out with the trays. The hens seem very happy. The only snag for me comes when I move it, so much easier with two, one to balance, one to push. My son worries the run clips are not strong enough and tells me to keep an eye on them. I am pleased with it.

Love it but needs adjustments
Jayne,
I purchased a green cube with 3m extension and it has faded in colour not that that detracts at all. I love the practicality of a cube , ease of cleaning and fox proof but it needs adjustments something I didn't think of when I purchased it. When you have the extensions on you have great difficulty getting inside as my husband likes to dig over the soil in the run quite regularly. My chickens don't free range so as I only have four there is plenty of room. We have to have the feeders and drinkers near the door for ease of filling and taking off to wash etc and this causes bickering amongst the chickens, it would be easier to have some feeders under the cube to separate them. We have had to purchase a clear tarpaulin for shelter but as we had such a wet winter/ spring it caused the rain to run down the tarpaulin and straight into the run. The chickens were up to their eyes in mud. I am really happy with it but these problems spoil it. I wanted a hen house and run that looked neat without having to add bits on that make it look a mess. I don't like the fact I cant stand up in the run, I'm only 5ft anyway but the walk in runs are far too expensive.. I hope I win the lottery and then I will buy one.

A five star hotel but you'll need other things
Quokkagirl,
Our Eglu Cube has pride of place and we are totally thrilled with the 5 star accommodation and the quality of the product. It's the business and I can't think of a better system on the market. The bantams managed the ladder immediately and have been laying well during their first week. A couple of things - the longer the run (we have a 1 metre extension), the more difficult it is to access the coop end of the run. I wish there were a couple of mini gate access points on the side panels for quick access without moving the whole coop. Also, it is difficult to position the Glug and Grub containers anywhere but near the door which looks nice but forces the chickens to crowd up the one end to access food. This is causing some major fighting in our run. A second access point, maybe under the cube or on it's side panel, would allow for Glug and Grub to be positioned elsewhere or for further food and water containers to be placed to stop some of the bickering. Finally, and this may be totally obvious to most people but it wasn't to me - the Eglu Cube with a two metre run is not all a hen needs - even if moved around to fresh pasture regularly. It is too confined for anything more than a couple of hens in my opinion. For mental health, and to prevent bullying, I believe they need to be able to explore a much larger area - free ranged in the garden - and just confine them to the run when you need to.

A brilliant product
Juliette,
Initially I brought a wooden chicken coop for our new venture. After a couple of weeks and spending more and more money trying to fox proof it I decided to buy the eglu cube. Although it was expensive I soon realised this is what I should have brought in the beginning. It is an awesome product and so easy to use and move. I paid extra to have it put together which was well worth it as it would have taken me days. In future I would go to this company first to buy any small animal houses. It was easy to order, delivery was on time and set up was around an hour. Thank you Omlet!

Needs additions
Brenda,
I love my eglu but there are some issues. My lime green eglu in the sun changed to a different green but I got a replacement from OMLET. I had to buy a heavy duty, specifically made, clear plastic cover for my extended run so they had somewhere to shelter in the rain. They free range but they like to run under the CLEAR HEAVY DUTY PLASTIC COVER in wet weather. Omlet need to make these covers and sell them. Also the door. I would also like an ELECTRONIC TIMER DOOR so it opens and closes electronically. Apart from these additions the eglu is near perfect. So easy to clean and take apart. I clean mine every 3 days hosing it down. All the poo goes onto the compost heap. Perfect. But please please Omlet make these products we really need them.

Great customer service!
Nikki,
When my product arrived, the packaging was damaged which had resulted in some slight damage to the contents. I don't consider Omlet were in any way to blame for the damage. However, when I informed them they responded in a very quick and professional manner and addressed my concerns which resulted in a satisfactory outcome. Well done Omlet!!

Cube
Bob,
Have just purchased the omlet cube and i think it is a superb piece of kit The hens seem to like it as well as they spend a lot of time preening in it I had a custom built wooden coop previously but it was hard to clean as well as maintain but the cube could not be simplier and i am very happy with the product I also purchased an extra 1m run extension which gave my five birds a bit more room I will probably purchase the walk in run eventually again to give the birds more room to scratch I move the coop on its inbuilt wheels every few days and this keeps lawn damage to a minimum Great product and great service

Eglu Cube
Steve,
Building the coop could be easier, but the product is excellent. I erected the Eglu Cube with the help of my partner Helen. It definitely takes two to make the build easier. Alignment is sometimes challenging, but in the end we built it. I am not 100% convinced that all parts were new. I would recommend that you pay the extra £20 or so if you live within two hours of Oxford to ask the delivery manager to build the Cube for you. The product is well thought out and a very significant upgrade on the thatched but deeply flawed chicken coop we had beforehand. Hence the 5 stars.

Omlet response:
It's great to hear your are happy with your Eglu Cube. I can confirm that we never send out used or second hand parts for new products but occasionally the plastic pieces do have a little remaining residue from the moulding process. We hope you enjoy using your product for years to come.
I love it
Gemma,
I love my new Eglu, and won't regret the (huge) initial outlay as long as it proves to be as hardwearing as it promises to be. There were some issues with delivery that, to be fair to Eglu, were initially ParcelForce's fault, however it took rather a lot of nagging to get things sorted subsequent to this which was a shame. Even then I never received assembly instructions, however luckily there are mostly-up-to-date ones downloadable on the website. Once I had all the pieces and had assembled it the Eglu was a good size - I have 3 medium-large chickens and am grateful for the 1m run extension - the house allows plenty of room though. :) Having used wooden houses previously I am delghted with how simple the house is to clean... it makes the world of difference. I live in a residential area so ease of keeping clean (to minimise smell and risk of rats) was essential. I clean and disinfect weekly and it takes no more than 30minutes. The design is well thought-out and it is very easy to use in terms of opening/shutting coop and egg-collecting. Took the girls a few days to figure out the steps properly (it was very funny watching them slip and slide up/down them at first - poor chicks) but they now have it down. with no issues. :) The ony flaw is that whilst the wheels allow the coop to move very easily over hard floor, once on grass its far less smooth, especially if moving backwards (the cage bends if you push it so you have to pull while angling it simultaneously) - an extra pair of wheels would make life easier, or perhaps a stabilising bar horizontally around the run. Overall, although I still feel the price is steep, the Eglu is a quality purchase that mokes chicken-keeping a breeze. I love it and so do the chickens.
