Comments for Do you need a male quail?

Hi there, I was wondering if you should always have male quails. Considering procuring quails, for a hobby and semi-small scale egg producing. How many males per female would you recommend? Thanks for your advice!

Male Coturnix quails (Roos) have a very distintive crow. They are quieter than a cockerel but shrill. Stick with girls if you have fussy neighbours. Bobwhite quail, which are usually kept in pairs, make whooping sounds which some people find soothing.
